Address Web Site

An address, web site style, is like a street address in that it allows people to find you and communicate with you quickly and easily. No two websites can have the same Internet address. Site rules are in place so that you must give your website and its individual pages proper addresses.

An effective web address is as brief and easily spelled as possible. If you have a website for a small business selling pearls, it might be a bad idea to try to name your website "pearl" or "perle." Besides, those names are taken already! Choose an address that makes your website stand out with its creativity and simplicity. If people can't spell or even remember your address, they may give up looking for your website - or never even look at all.

You are responsible for choosing your own web address. Once you register a website with the proper Internet authority (such as website-smart.com), you should choose web page addresses that accurately and briefly describe their content (for example, address.html). Any visitor to your website should be able to quickly know what a certain page is about by looking at its address.

On the Web, you can be more descriptive with addresses than you can in the real world. Your street address may be at Maple Tree Lane , but you may hate maple trees and wish you'd never moved there. With the Web, you can choose to name your pages whatever you want. You can't rename your site, however. If you want to get a new site address, you'll need to pay extra for the new address name (again, provided someone hasn't claimed it already).

As you practice proper techniques for website address naming, more people will visit and revisit your site. We hope these tips have helped you and wish you success in using addresses.
